The day after Christmas, Thursday, Dec. 26, will also mark the end of a pattern of mostly sunny weather. Thursday will be cloudy with a high temperature in the low 40s and wind-chill values between 25 and 35 degrees.
The chance for rain starts late Thursday night. The overnight low temperature will be in the low 30s farthest north and inland overnight, leading to a chance for snow. Farther south, the low temperature will be in the mid to upper 30s.
The chance for precipitation will carry over into Friday morning, Dec. 27 before the high temperature will rise to near 50 degrees in the afternoon. There's a 20-percent chance of rain through around 2 p.m. Friday, which will be another cloudy day. The overnight low will be in the mid to upper 30s.
The sun returns on Saturday, Dec. 28 which will be mostly sunny with the high temperature again around 50 degrees.
The storm will arrive on Sunday, Dec. 29, likely in the afternoon. Since the high temperature will be around 50 degrees, precipitation will be all rain. Rain could be heavy at times with gusty winds and slippery travel possible.
Rain becomes likely Sunday night and through the overnight, with the low temperature in the low 40s.
The storm will kick into high gear on Monday, Dec. 30 with rain likely during the day with the high temperature in the low 50s.
The storm will finally taper off Monday night, leading to a mostly sunny New Year's Eve on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with the high temperature in the low 40s.
New Year's Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1 will be mostly sunny with the high temperature in the mid 30s.
That will be followed by the first chance for snow in the new decade. It will come on Thursday morning, Jan. 2. Currently, a mix of snow and rain is possible before the high temperature climbs into the low 40s on a mostly cloudy day with rain possible in the afternoon and evening.
